Specialty Coffee Roasters & Community Café in Williamsburg
Groundwork Coffee Lab is an independent specialty coffee roastery and café in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since 2014, we have been sourcing, roasting, and serving exceptional single-origin coffees from farms we know by name. Every cup we pour is the result of a transparent supply chain, meticulous roasting, and a deep love for the craft of coffee.
Our Coffee
We roast in-house on a vintage Probat UG-22 drum roaster, small-batch roasting beans from Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Kenya, and rotating seasonal origins. Our espresso blend changes quarterly to reflect what is tasting best in each season. For filter coffee, we offer pourover (V60, Chemex) and batch brew throughout the day. Decaf drinkers will love our Swiss Water Process Colombian — no compromise on flavor.
The Space
Our café occupies a sun-filled corner storefront with exposed brick, reclaimed wood tables, and plenty of outlets for remote workers. We have 32 seats inside, a cozy back patio with 12 seats (open April-October), and a dedicated cupping room that hosts monthly public cuppings and barista workshops. Free WiFi and a relaxed atmosphere make us a favorite among freelancers and creatives.
Food & Pastries
Our pastry case is stocked daily by Ovenly and She Wolf bakeries — think seasonal scones, croissants, banana bread, and savory hand pies. We also serve a small menu of toasts, grain bowls, and fresh-pressed juices.
